Optimism Bedrock upgrade: 40% lower Gas fees and 90% faster deposit confirmation time

Optimism plans to implement its "Bedrock" upgrade on Tuesday , which aims to improve the availability of the chain by reducing gas fees and cutting deposit confirmation times by 90 %.

In addition, Bedrock will help move Optimism to a multi-client ecosystem, meaning that there will be at least two versions of the software used to interact with the network. The client software is used to run the blockchain, while the first layer of the blockchain, similar to Ether, relies on multiple clients to help maintain the security of the network. If one client makes a mistake, the chain can rely on other clients to keep the blockchain running.
