The Monad Foundation announced its MON token airdrop on October 14th, distributing a total of approximately 230,500 users, including 5,500 Monad core community members and nearly 225,000 participants in the broader crypto community. The token airdrop will be open from October 14, 2025, to November 3, 2025, at 1:00 PM UTC. While the official token issuance and mainnet launch date have yet to be announced, the airdrop is a prelude to the token launch. Source: https://blog.monad.xyz/blog/the-mon-airdrop

Bitget converter provides MON to USD real-time exchange rates, making it easy to convert Monad (MON) to United States Dollar (USD). The conversion result is based on real-time data. The conversion result shows that 1 MON is currently valued at 0 USD. Since crypto prices can change rapidly, we recommend checking back for the conversion result.
1 MON is currently valued at 0 USD, which means buying 5 MON would cost 0 USD. Similarly, $1 USD can be converted to Infinity MON, and $50 USD can be converted to Infinity MON, excluding any platform or gas fees.

About Monad (MON)

What Is Monad (MON)?

Monad (MON) is a high-performance, Ethereum-compatible Layer-1 blockchain built to address one of the biggest challenges in cryptocurrency: achieving high throughput and scalability without sacrificing decentralization. Developed by Category Labs, Monad is fully Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) compatible, meaning developers can deploy their Ethereum-based applications directly on Monad without rewriting smart contracts.

The project’s main objective is to deliver faster transaction processing and near-instant finality while maintaining the open, permissionless nature of traditional blockchains. Monad achieves this through a combination of parallel execution, pipelined consensus, and architectural optimizations that significantly increase performance efficiency.

Unlike Layer 2 solutions that depend on Ethereum for security, Monad operates as a standalone Layer 1 network. It aims to handle over 10,000 transactions per second (TPS), with 400ms block times and 800ms finality, offering a substantial performance leap compared to Ethereum’s 10–15 TPS. This design makes Monad one of the few platforms attempting to merge Ethereum’s ecosystem compatibility with the raw speed of high-performance blockchains.

How Monad (MON) Works

Monad’s technical foundation rests on several core innovations that enhance both speed and decentralization. The network combines a novel consensus mechanism (MonadBFT) with parallel execution and asynchronous processing to maximize resource efficiency.

1. MonadBFT Consensus

Monad uses MonadBFT, a Byzantine Fault Tolerant consensus mechanism designed to prevent “tail forking,” a common vulnerability in traditional BFT systems. The protocol allows block proposals every 400 milliseconds, achieving full finality in less than a second. MonadBFT supports hundreds of validators and ensures linear message complexity—maintaining decentralization while keeping network latency low.

2. Parallel and Pipelined Execution

A key innovation in Monad is its parallel execution engine. Instead of processing transactions sequentially, Monad executes multiple transactions at the same time, checking for conflicts and committing results in their proper order. This method maintains deterministic results while significantly increasing throughput.
Monad also introduces superscalar pipelining, which overlaps stages of transaction validation, consensus, and state updates. Similar to modern CPU architecture, this technique allows the blockchain to perform more tasks concurrently and reduce waiting times between processes.

3. Optimized Gas and Opcode Model

Monad employs a refined version of Ethereum’s EIP-1559 gas pricing model, adjusting gas costs for greater efficiency in its asynchronous environment. The network charges gas based on a transaction’s gas limit rather than actual usage—preventing denial-of-service attacks caused by underpriced transactions.
Opcode prices are recalibrated to reflect true computational and storage costs. Storage operations are more expensive to discourage excessive data growth, but Monad offsets this with higher refunds when storage is cleared. These design choices promote both economic efficiency and network sustainability.

4. Developer Compatibility

Because Monad maintains full EVM and JSON-RPC compatibility, developers can migrate their Ethereum dApps seamlessly. Tools like MetaMask, Etherscan, and The Graph work without modification, making Monad a plug-and-play environment for existing projects.

What Is MON Token?

The MON token serves as the native cryptocurrency of the Monad blockchain. With a total supply of 100 billion tokens, it powers transactions, smart contract execution, and staking within the ecosystem.

Utility and Function

  • Gas Fees: MON is used to pay transaction and computation fees across the network.

  • Staking and Validation: Validators must stake MON to participate in the Proof-of-Stake consensus process, and token holders can delegate their MON to validators in return for a share of rewards.

  • Security Incentives: Block rewards and transaction fees are distributed among validators and delegators based on their stake.

  • Potential Governance Role: Future updates may introduce decentralized governance functions, allowing token holders to propose or vote on network changes.

Conclusion

Monad (MON) represents a new generation of Ethereum-compatible Layer 1 blockchains, combining high performance with open accessibility. Its innovations in consensus design, execution parallelism, and gas management demonstrate how blockchain infrastructure can evolve to meet the demands of global-scale decentralized applications.

While Monad’s technology appears advanced and its compatibility with Ethereum gives it a strong foundation, the network’s success will depend on its mainnet launch, validator participation, and long-term adoption. For investors and developers alike, Monad offers a glimpse into what a faster, more efficient, yet decentralized blockchain ecosystem could look like.
