Step 2: Bind a New Google Authenticator

1. Open the Google Authenticator app.

2. Scan the QR code shown on the Modify Google Authenticator page (or manually enter the setup key).

3. A new Bitget entry will appear in your app and generate a new 6-digit code.

4. Enter the 6-digit code from this new entry and select Submit.

Note: Do not delete your old Bitget entry yet. You will need it in the next step. You may now see two entries in your app (old and new, usually shown with different creation dates).

Step 3: Complete security verification

1. Select Send to receive a verification code on your registered email or phone.

2. Enter the email or phone verification code and the 6-digit code from your currently bound (old) Google Authenticator.

3. Select Confirm to complete the change.

Important Notes:

  • After changing Google Authenticator, withdrawals and P2P trading will be disabled for 24 hours to protect your assets. The restrictions will lift automatically after this period.

  • If you accidentally enter the new GA code during the security verification step, the system will reject it. Use your old GA code to confirm the change. Once the update is successful, the new GA becomes active, and you can safely remove the old GA entry.

FAQs

1. Can I use the same QR code or key for multiple devices?

No, the QR code or key is unique and tied to a single device. You must generate a new code for each new setup.

2. What if my new authenticator app doesn’t generate valid codes?

Google Authenticator codes refresh every 30 seconds. Make sure you enter the latest 6-digit code before it expires. If the code doesn’t work, try using the next refreshed code.

3. What happens to my account security if I change Google Authenticator?

Changing Google Authenticator does not impact your account security as long as the new authenticator is properly set up and verified.

4. Can I use Edit Google Authenticator if I no longer have access to my old GA?

If you no longer have the old Google Authenticator, do not use Edit. Go to Reset Google Authenticator and complete the verification steps.

5. Will there be any restrictions after changing Google Authenticator?

Yes. To protect your assets, certain account functions like withdrawals and P2P trading will be temporarily disabled for 24 hours. Restrictions lift automatically afterward.
