Anthony Pompliano, a prominent digital assets entrepreneur and podcast host, is reportedly set to become CEO of ProCapBTC, a new investment firm aiming to acquire large amounts of Bitcoin . ProCapBTC plans to raise $750 million by merging with Columbus Circle Capital 1, a special purpose acquisition company (SPAC) backed by investment firm Cohen & Company. The funding breakdown includes $500 million in equity and $250 million in convertible debt. Sources close to the matter indicate that the deal could be announced as early as next week, although final terms have not been confirmed. If completed, the transaction would mark one of the largest Bitcoin-focused treasury initiatives in recent months. Columbus Circle Capital 1 is a blank-check company that completed a $250 million IPO in May 2025. It was formed specifically for mergers and acquisitions and is backed by Cohen & Company Capital Markets, a division of the publicly traded financial services firm Cohen & Company. The SPAC’s merger with ProCapBTC would provide the latter with a public listing and immediate access to capital for Bitcoin acquisition. Cohen & Company has expanded its presence in the digital asset sector in recent years, offering services to clients in the cryptocurrency, NFT, and decentralized finance industries. Its involvement in the ProCapBTC initiative highlights growing institutional interest in crypto treasury strategies. If all $750 million is allocated to Bitcoin purchases, ProCapBTC would become one of the largest corporate holders of the asset. For comparison, data from BitcoinTreasuries.net shows that 130 public companies currently hold a combined total of over 820,000 BTC. Strategy leads the group with 582,000 in Bitcoin holdings. The timing of ProCapBTC’s launch aligns with renewed enthusiasm in the crypto sector. U.S. President Donald Trump recently stated it was an “honor” to be considered pro-crypto. His administration’s softer stance on digital asset regulations has encouraged several crypto firms to explore public listings. Earlier this month, stablecoin issuer Circle surged 168% on its first day of trading. Meanwhile, Bullish Group, which owns Bullish Exchange and CoinDesk, is also reportedly preparing for an IPO. Pompliano’s involvement in ProCapBTC follows his earlier leadership of ProCap Acquisition, a fintech-focused SPAC that raised $250 million through a Nasdaq IPO in April. the amount of planning and dedication that this guy is doing exceeds anything anyone has ever done on stream. i am pretty sure a lot of people aren't a huge fan of the fella, but i did all the research i can on the coin (on-chain) and it looks clean. this is his best idea yet, and i think this will do well once people see the vision. to me its still in the category of a gamble, but much more safe considering he's nearly 50% of the way through and on a solid pace to beat the record. macro is whack so its understandable that this will range between 200K and 1M until it starts to get real momentum, or you can bid the dips when its chillin and take initials on the rips. i entered this afternoon after seeing the hyundai interaction. i think pumpfun + alon also have a big shot at doing something dope. disclaimer: these plays that i share, are literally just commentary and content. the play might get cooked... or it'll do amazing. i can't decide that, only time will. i respect the effort and thats all, i bid and will hold.
