Ethereum's Sensitive Short Term Price Position Today: Right now, Ethereum is trading around $3,028 to $3,031. On the short-term charts (1-hour and 4-hour), ETH is stuck in a tight zone between $2,878 and $3,434, where buyers and sellers are fighting for control. Price remains below the 5, 10, and 20 moving averages, showing sellers still have the edge. The RSI is in the low 40s, suggesting limited buying pressure, while a small bullish MACD cross is forming but sits close to the zero line, so it’s not yet convincing. Daily volume is below average, meaning this bounce lacks strong participation, and the order book favors sellers with about 66% sell pressure and 34% buy pressure. On the daily chart, ETH has moved above the 10-day and 20-day simple moving averages, and the Parabolic SAR has flipped below price, hinting at a mild bounce. However, it’s struggling to clear short-term exponential moving averages, and the daily RSI remains around neutral levels, showing the market hasn’t fully committed in either direction. Why The Bigger Structure Still Shows A Bearish Market In Control: When I zoom out and look at the bigger timeframes like the daily and weekly charts, the overall trend is still clearly bearish. Ethereum topped out between August and September 2025, around the $4,900 to $5,000 area. After that, the structure started to change, and we saw multiple breaks to the downside through October and November. The strongest breakdown happened in late November, and that is what pushed ETH into the low $2,600s, right around the important weekly support at $2,623. That is where buyers finally stepped in and caused the current bounce. Even with this bounce, the price is still below the midpoint of the whole move, which is around $3,141. Ethereum is also still inside a descending channel that has been forming since October, with lower highs and lower lows. The lower part of the channel lines up near the $2,623 support, and the upper part comes in around the $3,600 to $3,700 zone. Until ETH can break out of this channel and start holding higher levels, the bigger trend is still pointing downward. So for now, any move up is better seen as a pullback or retracement, not a full trend change. How ETF Outflows And Weak Institutional Demand Are Adding Extra Pressure: Outside of the charts, the fundamentals are also not helping Ethereum right now. On December 5 alone, Ethereum spot ETFs saw about $75.21 million in net outflows, and this was the fourth straight day of redemptions. All of that outflow came from BlackRock’s ETHA fund, showing big institutional demand has cooled off. Even though Ethereum’s supply on exchanges has dropped to record lows, which is usually bullish in the long run, that positive factor is being outweighed right now by weak demand and cautious sentiment. This is very different from Bitcoin, which is still seeing stronger ETF support. That difference in money flow shows that, for now, Ethereum is not the first choice for big investors. The Key Levels Ethereum Must Hold Or Break To Define Its Next Direction: At this point, everything really comes down to a few important levels. On the downside, the first support to watch is $2,878, and then the major weekly support at $2,623. If those levels break, the next big area below is around the $2,112 monthly support. On the upside, buyers first need to take back $3,240, which is an important daily resistance. After that, $3,434 is the next major level that needs to be broken and held. For a real change in trend to happen, Ethereum would eventually need to break out of the descending channel, which means pushing above the $3,600 to $3,700 region and holding it.$ETH
