Stellar Plans Phased Rollout of Soroban Smart Contracts in January 2024
The Layer 1 blockchain Stellar has announced its plans to upgrade and introduce Soroban smart contract functionality in a phased rollout in the first half of 2024, with network validators voting on the upgrade on January 30th. The team stated, "To ensure a high-quality experience for developers with this release, Stellar will assess experimental contract deployments and communicate with developers once the smart contract platform (called Soroban) reaches a usable level of transactions processed per second."
