Crypto industry sees 51% decrease in losses from security incidents in 2023
According to CertiK's 2023 web3 security report, the total amount lost due to security incidents in the crypto industry has decreased by 51% compared to the previous year, with almost $2 billion lost. The report defines losses as the value of digital assets stolen by malicious actors. The top 10 incidents, including the Mixin Network and Euler Finance hacks, accounted for $1.11 billion of the losses, with an average median loss of around $101,000 for other incidents. Interestingly, the report notes a decline in hacks and scams over the weekends, with Sundays being the quietest day.
