U.S. Supreme Court rules Trump is entitled to immunity from criminal prosecution while in office
The Supreme Court ruled that former President Donald J. Trump has the right to broad immunity from criminal prosecution for actions taken during his presidency. Trump will seek to overturn his conviction for the "hush money" payments in New York after this immunity ruling. Previously, adult film actress Stormy Daniels claimed that she had an affair with Trump since 2006, which Trump strongly denied. Daniels accepted a "hush money" payment from Trump's personal lawyer out of concern for her family's safety. Trump's personal lawyer, Michael Cohen, also confirmed that he privately paid Daniels $130,000. However, Daniels pointed out that she signed the so-called "hush money" document with Cohen shortly before the election, but Trump did not sign it, so legally it is invalid.
