The macOS version of ChatGPT was accused of storing AI conversations in plain text, and OpenAI urgently updated and fixed it
On July 4th, developer Pedro Vieito posted on the Thread platform 2 days ago, stating that the macOS version of the ChatGPT app would store user conversations in plain text. Today, OpenAI responded by stating that it has updated its app to encrypt chat records stored on Mac devices. According to Vieito's analysis, because conversations are stored in plain text outside of the sandbox, this also means that conversations can be accessed by other applications, processes, or even malicious software running on the Mac without the user's knowledge.
