In the first half of 2024, global blockchain venture capital fell 64% year-on-year, with Africa falling 74% year-on-year
Swiss blockchain venture capital firm CV VC released its latest report on venture capital in Africa. The report stated that Africa received $34.7 million in investments in the first half of 2024, a 74% decrease compared to $135.4 million in 2023. Despite the decrease in funding, the report noted that the number of transactions in the region increased by 9%. Overall, global blockchain financing has also seen a significant decline. The report stated that the industry received $10.66 billion in financing in the first half of 2023, but only $5.74 billion in the same period in 2024, a 64% decrease. There were only 678 transactions in 2024, a 49% decrease from the 1,306 transactions in the same period in 2023.
