MakerDAO Launches NewGovToken Activation Feature
On July 17th, MakerDAO founder Rune Christensen announced on social media that MakerDAO has launched the NewGovToken activation feature. When the Spark sub-DAO is launched, NewGovToken holders will be able to activate their NewGovToken to receive SPK rewards. NewGovToken activators will receive 15% of all SPK token rewards. NewGovToken can be obtained by exchanging MKR at a ratio of 1:24,000, and will be launched soon after Endgame. Activating NewGovToken does not have a lock-up period or additional risk, and can be cancelled at any time.
In the future, other rewards can also be selected, including stablecoin rewards and 15% token rewards for all other launched sub-DAOs. The purpose of activating NewGovToken is to incentivize long-term participation in governance - delegation can also be carried out while activating NewGovToken in the future.
