Crypto Exchange WazirX Files Police Complaint and Engages with CERT-In After $230 Million Hack
Indian crypto exchange WazirX has reported a $230 million hack to the police and engaged with the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) to identify and apprehend the perpetrators. The company is also collaborating with forensic experts and law enforcement agencies to recover customer assets and conduct a deeper analysis of the cyber attack. WazirX is registered with the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU-India) but the incident does not fall under its ambit as it is a security breach. The lack of crypto-specific regulation in India highlights the need for clear regulatory expectations on issues such as security standards, risk management, and consumer protection.
