ChainCatcher news, the U.S. Treasury Department is considering imposing sanctions on Tether. According to informed sources, the federal government is investigating whether cryptocurrency company Tether has violated sanctions and anti-money laundering regulations.

The Manhattan U.S. Attorney's Office has launched a criminal investigation into whether Tether's cryptocurrency was used by third parties to fund illegal activities such as drug trafficking, terrorism, and hacking attacks, or to launder the proceeds from these activities.
