On November 13, the U.S. Department of Justice announced: "Daren Li, a resident with dual citizenship in China and the Federation of Saint Kitts and Nevis (note: our country does not recognize dual citizenship), admitted to a charge of conspiracy to launder money because he was involved in a money laundering scheme for a cryptocurrency investment scam that yielded millions of dollars." Daren Li and his accomplices used networks of shell companies and international bank accounts to launder over $73 million from victims of the cryptocurrency investment fraud. Daren Li is scheduled to be sentenced on March 3, 2025. Li could face up to 20 years in prison. Previously on May 17th, according to the U.S. Department of Justice's official website, yesterday two Chinese nationals were arrested in California accused of defrauding at least $73 million through cryptocurrency investment scams.
