In India grabbed Masood Alam, suspected of hacking the WazirX cryptocurrency exchange, which resulted in the theft of digital assets worth $235 million.

According to police, Alam created a fake account on the WazirX platform under the name of Souvik Mondal. Masood then sold the account on the messenger TelegramThe hacker who bought it used a fake account to carry out a cyberattack on the exchange on July 18, 2024.

It is likely that Alam's arrest will help law enforcement officers track down the criminal who hacked the WazirX crypto wallet and stole almost 45% of the coins stored in it. Among the digital assets that the criminal managed to seize were Shiba Inu (SHIB), Ethereum (ETH) and Tether (USDT).

WazirX employees have been unsuccessful in their attempts to contact the hacker or identify him. For this reason, the company's management has offered the attacker to return the coins, keeping $23 million in digital assets, and has announced a $10 reward for help in catching the criminal.

Following the incident, WazirX employees blocked the virtual currencies stored in the traders' accounts and promised to compensate them for their losses in full. However, the digital assets have still not been returned, so the platform's users cannot earn money thanks to Trump's pump, and they can only watch the bull rally in the cryptocurrency market.
