Litecoin Raises Eyebrows On Socials
Acting erratic yet humorously, the stick figure character has been featured in several viral pictures over the weekend. It poses with Ethereum founder Vitalik Buterin, has continuous digs at Solana (SOL) , and even describes a time-traveling trip with Dogecoin’s mascot back in 1993.
Litecoin’s new meme coin style garnered media attention last Saturday when the LTC price tacked on $96.99, a new three-month high. Shortly after, the rising social dominance stirred beef between Litecoin and Shiba Inu. During that time on the markets, SHIB edged LTC in trading volume, doubling LTC’s $999 million in 24 hours to above $2 billion.
Shiba Inu Mocks Litecoin’s Transition
In a late Monday evening message, Shiba Inu’s Shytoshi Kusama asked Litecoin to rethink its decision to join the meme coin squad: “take that L and stand down. You don’t have Tony stark on your squad.” Shibarium’s lead developer acknowledged that competing with the former regular altcoin was not on the bingo card for 2024.
Just eight minutes later, Litecoin’s official X handle sarcastically asked : “What is this? 8th grade?”
Meanwhile, the SHIB Army’s favorite crypto picked up 5.9% intra-day gains, while the flagship asset Bitcoin (BTC) climbed to a new all-time high at $94,040.99 a few hours back.
Shiba Inu’s price hike helps the meme coin maintain its position above Avalanche (AVAX) . While SHIB reclaimed a $15 billion market capitalization, it hasn’t yet produced a new price record in this meme supercycle, trailing behind by over 70%.
