The salary of the OpenAI CEO last year was $76,001

A recently released tax return shows that OpenAI CEO Sam Altman's salary last year was $76,001, slightly higher than the $73,546 in 2022.

Altman, who is worth at least $2 billion, has previously stated that his salary "depends on the minimum standard of health insurance". He has also repeatedly stated that he does not own shares in OpenAI.

However, according to Bloomberg reports, the artificial intelligence startup has discussed granting him shares as part of a possible transition to a for-profit company. It is reported that Altman's salary is included in a document that non-profit organizations in the United States must submit to the IRS every year.
