LimeWire launches Web3 file sharing with BNB Greenfield
LimeWire, known for its peer-to-peer file sharing in the early 2000s, has reentered the digital space with a new feature that leverages decentralised technology from BNB Greenfield.
In their latest announcement, LimeWire unveiled that this feature allows for encrypted file sharing worldwide, taking advantage of the decentralised architecture provided by Blockchain technology.
"As a pioneer brand of peer-to-peer networks, file sharing is in LimeWire’s DNA. With this launch, we’re returning to our roots, reimagined for the modern era, and combining the power of AI with secure, decentralized file sharing for everyone," stated Julian Zehetmayr, co-founder and CEO of LimeWire.
The introduction of artificial intelligence has attracted over two million users, who actively use LimeWire's tools for content creation and editing.
After being shut down in 2010 following legal issues, LimeWire was revitalised in 2022 as an NFT marketplace, shifting its focus towards supporting the digital art community.
Furthering its embrace of blockchain technology, in 2023, LimeWire launched a game that rewards players with cryptocurrency, blending its historical elements with new, digital innovations.
