Cardano founder responds to foundation governance dispute: The foundation has no direct connection with IOHK and Emurgo
Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson has responded to controversies about the governance structure of the Cardano Foundation (CF), emphasizing the importance of decentralization principles and community oversight.
The controversy originated from Rick McCracken, a well-known figure in the Cardano community, who questioned the transparency and leadership of the foundation, believing there was a lack of effective community supervision. Charles Hoskinson pointed out that there is no direct connection between CF and IOHK or Emurgo.
However, Hoskinson stated that the use of CF's $600 million ADA treasury does not directly represent the community. In his view, CF lacks enthusiasm for funding projects like Catalyst which could hinder ecosystem development. This approach may lead to future sustainability issues for this ecosystem especially considering major contributors like IOHK are working without proper incentives.
Charles Hoskinson's response to McCracken's statement was that these comments were quite "offensive" and "disappointing". He noted that while IOHK indeed had some problems such as layoffs during bear markets, it always focused on its ecosystem.
