The U.S. DOGE department is exploring the enhancement of U.S. government efficiency through blockchain technology
ChainCatcher reports that, according to Bloomberg, Musk is leading the newly established U.S. Government Efficiency Department (DOGE), exploring the use of blockchain technology to enhance government efficiency. Sources say that Musk's team is studying applications such as tracking federal spending, protecting data, processing payments and managing assets through blockchain technology and has met with representatives from several public blockchain projects to assess technological potential.
The department was set up by the Trump administration and plans to complete reform proposals before July 4th, 2026. Musk suggests that blockchain could become a key tool in reducing waste and preventing fraud. However, experts point out that the decentralized nature of public blockchains may limit government control over data, and there remains controversy over its advantages in terms of cost and efficiency compared to traditional databases.
