New SEC Chairman Paul Atkins Promises 'Rational, Coherent' Approach to Crypto Regulation
according to The Block, Paul Atkins, the new chairman of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), stated at his swearing-in ceremony on Tuesday that he will provide a clear regulatory foundation for digital assets, using a "rational, consistent, and principled" regulatory approach. This marks a significant shift in the direction of SEC regulation, contrasting sharply with the strict attitude of his predecessor, Gary Gensler. Atkins emphasized: "Under the helm of the SEC, I can confidently say that this is a new era." SEC has established a cryptocurrency working group, holding roundtable discussions aimed at bringing greater regulatory clarity to the cryptocurrency field.
