Marco Santori joins Pantera Capital as general partner at pivotal time
Marco Santori, former chief legal officer at Kraken, has joined Pantera Capital as a general partner on the investment team, according to a Pantera blog post and statements made by Santori.
Santori, who left Kraken in January 2025, will focus on expanding Pantera’s cryptocurrency portfolio and supporting portfolio companies with regulatory compliance and strategic growth.
He will also continue engaging with policymakers to advocate for clear and innovation-friendly regulations in the U.S. and globally, reflecting the firm’s emphasis on navigating evolving regulatory frameworks.
Santori is recognised for developing the “SAFT” (Simple Agreement for Future Tokens) framework, a foundational model for compliant token sales.
“I’m joining Pantera at a pivotal moment for crypto on the world stage,” Santori said.
“After over a decade of work, governments have finally embraced the benefits of blockchain technology. The timing couldn’t be better, and Pantera couldn’t be better positioned to capitalize on it.”
His appointment comes as regulatory clarity in the United States advances, making it a critical focus for firms preparing for broader institutional adoption.
Santori has testified before the U.S. Congress on crypto regulation and previously led Kraken’s legal and government relations teams during significant regulatory challenges.
Pantera Capital, an investment firm dedicated to blockchain technology, aims to leverage Santori’s legal expertise to strengthen its position amid increasing regulatory scrutiny and to identify investment opportunities with long-term viability.
This move highlights the growing importance of combining legal insight with investment strategy in the evolving crypto landscape.
According to sources, Santori’s transition from legal counsel to general partner reflects the maturation of the crypto industry and the increasing institutionalisation of digital assets.
