Ledger scammers are sending postal mail to steal recovery phrases

a recent offline phishing scam targeting Ledger hardware wallet users, scammers are asking victims to verify their mnemonic phrases through postal mail. On April 29th, technology commentator Jacob Canfield exposed a fake "Ledger Security Update Notification" letter on X platform, containing a QR code with the brand logo, prompting users to enter a 24-word recovery phrase. Ledger officials immediately responded, emphasizing: "We will never ask for your mnemonic phrase in any way."

This scam may be related to the Ledger user data leak incident in July 2020, when the names, phone numbers, and addresses of over 270,000 users were exposed by hackers. In 2021, there have been reports that some users received fake hardware wallets preloaded with malicious software. Experts remind: any request for a mnemonic phrase is a scam, and physical isolation is the core security advantage of hardware wallets.
