Polygon Founder: Investing Resources in General-Purpose Chains Is Meaningless, Will Continue to Promote CDK-Erigon and CDK-OpGeth
Polygon founder and Polygon Foundation CEO Sandeep posted on X, stating: When deciding to shut down the zkEVM chain, we were already aware that this would impact other Agglayer CDK chains, for example:
1. All Agglayer chains built on Agglayer CDK are separated from zkEVM at the stack level. CDK initially used the zkEVM codebase, but after significant optimization, it was transformed into a stack that can be used to launch other chains. Currently, Polygon is adding more stacks to Agglayer CDK.
2. Polygon will continue to advance CDK-Erigon and CDK-OpGeth, which have already achieved throughput of up to 7,000 TPS and block times of 250 milliseconds, with more features to be released in the future.
Finally, for zkEVM, it makes no sense to allocate Polygon’s resources to a general-purpose chain, as there are already too many such chains. Therefore, the best resources should be focused on a single, already existing, and more scalable blockchain.
