OpenAI begins discounting ChatGPT, undermining Microsoft's interests
OpenAI has started offering discounted prices for ChatGPT, which has impacted Microsoft's interests. According to an OpenAI spokesperson and two senior executives from major companies who have spoken with the startup in recent weeks, OpenAI has begun providing discounts on its enterprise subscriptions when customers agree to pay for its ChatGPT application. This move has disappointed Microsoft, OpenAI's largest commercial partner, as Microsoft sells competing applications and models and typically does not offer such significant discounts. The discounts suggest that OpenAI's pricing power may not be as strong as Microsoft's.
OpenAI expects annual revenue from ChatGPT enterprise clients to approach $15 billion by 2030. The company is offering ChatGPT Enterprise discounts ranging from 10% to 20% for customers who purchase additional products. (The Information)
