U.S. House and Senate Introduce Resolutions to Limit Presidential War Powers
According to a report by Jinse Finance, citing CCTV News, on June 22 local time, U.S. Republican Congressman Thomas Massie and Democratic Congressman Ro Khanna jointly introduced a War Powers Resolution aimed at curbing executive authority and reaffirming the power of Congress. Massie stated that the United States is not facing an imminent threat, and that all of this happened while Congress was on recess and lawmakers had not been briefed. In addition, on June 22, Virginia Democratic Senator Tim Kaine said in an interview with Fox News that Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer is pushing for a prompt vote on a resolution to limit the president's war powers, so that all senators must publicly declare whether the United States should go to war with Iran. It is reported that senators are expected to receive a briefing on the situation in Iran on the 24th.
