Meta poaches OpenAI core researcher to strengthen AI reasoning model layout
according to the technology media TechCrunch, informed sources said that Meta has hired highly influential OpenAI researcher Trapit Bansal to join the company's newly established AI superintelligence department to work on AI reasoning model related work. Bansal's joining may bring important support to Meta's AI superintelligence laboratory. The laboratory currently has gathered a number of industry leaders, including former ScaleAI CEO Alexandr Wang, former GitHub CEO Nat Friedman, and Safe Superintelligence co-founder Daniel Gross. It is worth noting that Meta has not yet publicly released any AI reasoning models in its open source model family Llama series. In recent months, Zuckerberg has been recruiting talent intensively with high salaries to build a new AI team for Meta, reportedly offering compensation packages of up to $100 million for top researchers. However, the specific salary treatment for Bansal's joining has not been disclosed.
