Ripple plans multiple acquisitions and an “Ethereum-style upgrade” for the XRP Ledger blockchain

According to ChainCatcher, as reported by DL News, Ripple’s Chief Technology Officer David Schwartz stated that the company is actively seeking acquisition opportunities, with several potential targets at various stages. Earlier this year, Ripple acquired leading brokerage Hidden Road for $1.25 billion and plans to use its new stablecoin RLUSD as collateral for Hidden Road’s brokerage services.
In addition, Ripple is working to enhance the flexibility or “programmability” of the XRP Ledger and is developing a lending protocol scheduled for launch in the third quarter of this year. This will make the XRP Ledger more versatile, similar to the smart contract capabilities of Ethereum.
