Sources: OpenAI Recently Began Renting Google TPU Chips to Provide Computing Power for ChatGPT and Other Products
Foresight News reports, according to The Information, that sources have revealed OpenAI has recently begun renting Google TPU chips to provide computing power for products such as ChatGPT. This marks the company's first large-scale use of non-NVIDIA chips. This collaboration will help OpenAI reduce its reliance on Microsoft data centers, while also giving Google’s TPUs an opportunity to challenge NVIDIA’s dominance in the GPU market. OpenAI aims to lower inference computing costs by renting TPU chips through Google Cloud.
