Economist: Fed Expected to Begin Series of 25-Basis-Point Rate Cuts Starting in October
According to a report by Jinse Finance, David Kohl, Chief Economist at Julius Baer, Switzerland, expects the Federal Reserve to begin a series of 25-basis-point rate cuts starting in October, with the federal funds target rate dropping from the current 4.5% to 3.5% by March 2026. After that, the Fed is likely to hold rates steady, with inflation possibly hovering around 3% rather than the 2% target. The primary reason for easing monetary policy is to address diminishing inflation risks, followed by concerns over economic growth and rising unemployment.
