The US Marshals Service holds only about 29,000 bitcoins, far less than expected
According to a report by Jinse Finance, documents obtained by independent crypto journalist L0la L33tz through the Freedom of Information Act reveal that as of March this year, the U.S. Marshals Service held only 28,988 bitcoins, worth approximately $3.4 billion—significantly lower than the market’s previous estimates of its holdings. Earlier estimates suggested that the U.S. government’s total crypto asset holdings reached as high as $25 billion. The Trump administration had previously ordered that bitcoins held by federal agencies be transferred to the Treasury Department for management and established a “strategic bitcoin reserve.”
