According to a live report from Jinse Finance, on August 26 at the WebX2025 event held in Japan, Aya Miyaguchi, Chair of the Ethereum Foundation, stated that the current closed and vertically integrated model of large Japanese corporations is severely hindering innovation and development in the Web3 sector. In the current wave of Web3, this traditional model restricts the growth space for startups. She emphasized that large Japanese companies urgently need to change the status quo and actively create open collaborative platforms to support the growth of startups. In Aya Miyaguchi’s view, the Web3 ecosystem should be like an “infinite garden,” where everyone can participate and contribute, which requires collaboration between large enterprises and startups. Encouragingly, she acknowledged the positive transformation efforts of companies such as Sony. She noted that Sony has begun to break through its own limitations, actively embracing external innovation and collaborating with startups. Aya Miyaguchi called for fully unleashing the vitality of young people and startups in the Web3 field, and building a more open and inclusive “infinite garden” ecosystem. This requires not only innovation in technology and business models by enterprises, but also a cultural shift across the entire industry to break traditional mindsets and adapt to the development needs of the Web3 era. She hopes to see more Japanese companies take solid steps in the Web3 sector, helping Japan secure a favorable position in the global Web3 competition.
