Meta establishes California political action committee to promote AI-friendly policies
Jinse Finance reported that Meta Platforms (META.O) announced on Tuesday it will establish a California-focused political action committee (PAC) to support candidates in state-level elections who advocate for loosening regulations on technology, especially artificial intelligence. This organization is a super PAC and will support state-level public office candidates from any party who promote AI innovation rather than strict regulation. Meta plans to invest tens of millions of dollars through this PAC, making it likely to become one of California's largest political donors ahead of the 2026 gubernatorial election. California will elect its next governor in November 2026. According to a company spokesperson, Meta's Vice President of Public Policy Brian Rice will co-lead the PAC with another Vice President of Public Policy, Greg Maurer.
