Jinse Finance reported, citing Politico, that Judge Jia Cobb, who will rule on the case involving Trump's attempt to fire Federal Reserve Governor Cook, had previously blocked another of Trump's signature moves to expand presidential powers: the mass deportation of immigrants. Cobb was nominated to the federal court in 2021 by former President Biden. Earlier this month, Cobb issued an 84-page ruling blocking the Trump administration's plan to quickly deport hundreds of thousands of immigrants fleeing violence or persecution in their home countries. Cobb will preside over the initial phase of the Cook lawsuit, with a hearing scheduled for 10 a.m. ET (UTC+8) on Friday. However, it is almost certain that she will not be the final decision-maker, as any ruling could be appealed to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit and ultimately reach the Supreme Court.
