The European Union plans to sign an expanded partnership agreement with Uzbekistan on October 24.
The press office of the President of the European Council, Costa, stated that Costa is expected to meet with Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev in Brussels on October 24 to sign a new agreement on expanding partnership and cooperation.
This new agreement will replace the previous cooperation document signed in 1999. Negotiations on the new agreement began in 2019, and both parties completed negotiations and initialed the document in 2022. The agreement covers a wide range of areas, including trade, customs management, technical regulations, phytosanitary and veterinary rules, competition policy, government procurement, and dispute resolution.
