Miner wallet containing 4,000 BTC breaks 14-year dormancy: Lookonchain

A bitcoin wallet belonging to a miner holding 4,000 BTC made its first move in 14 years.
Citing Arkham data, onchain analytics platform Lookonchain said wallet "18eY9…6EfyM" transferred 150 BTC, worth around $16.6 million, to another unmarked address at around 3 p.m. on Thursday. "These 4,000 BTC were mined in 2009 and consolidated into wallet 18eY9o in 2011," Lookonchain wrote in its post on social media platform X.
On Oct. 24, 2011, 4,000 bitcoin was worth $16,400. Today, it is worth over $442 million.
Bitcoin is up 2.2% in the past 24 hours to trade at $110,656, according to The Block's bitcoin price page .
Since the market rally earlier this year, OG bitcoin wallets have shown increased activity. In July, a Satoshi-era whale sold more than 80,000 BTC — worth over $9 billion at the time — through Galaxy Digital. Several more whale addresses were seen moving millions worth of bitcoin last month, after having stayed dormant for a decade.
