Amazon Launches Latest Kindle Scribe Models, Including First Color Version
Amazon has revealed that its newest Kindle Scribe devices, including the debut of a color edition, will be available for purchase beginning December 10.
Enhanced Kindle Scribe Features
The updated Kindle Scribe boasts an expansive 11-inch anti-glare screen, measures a slim 5.4mm in thickness, and weighs just 400 grams. With a 40% boost in speed for writing and page-turning, this model is designed for efficiency. Amazon has introduced a specially textured glass surface, providing a tactile experience that closely mimics writing on real paper.
Inside, the device is powered by a new quad-core processor, increased memory, and the latest Oxide display technology, all working together to deliver a smoother, more responsive user experience.
Model Options and Pricing
Customers can choose between two Kindle Scribe variants: one equipped with a front light and one without. The front-lit version will be available from December 10, starting at $499.99, while the non-front-lit model is set to launch early next year at a starting price of $429.99.

Introducing the Kindle Scribe Colorsoft
The new Kindle Scribe Colorsoft features advanced display technology that produces gentle, eye-friendly colors, avoiding the harshness often associated with LCD screens. Amazon has also developed an improved rendering engine for this model, ensuring vibrant color reproduction and a seamless writing experience. The Colorsoft promises weeks of battery life on a single charge.
The Kindle Scribe Colorsoft will be available starting December 10, with prices beginning at $629.99.
Productivity and Creative Tools
Both devices introduce a redesigned Home interface, allowing users to quickly jot notes, access recently used books, documents, and notebooks. Amazon expects these devices to become essential tools for handwritten notes, offering deep integration for note-taking. Users will be able to search across all their notebooks and receive concise AI-generated summaries. Looking ahead, Amazon plans to enable users to send notes and documents to Alexa+ for more interactive discussions starting next year.

The Colorsoft model introduces a new shader tool, allowing artists to craft smooth gradients and delicate tones. Users can write, sketch, and annotate using a palette of 10 pen colors or highlight with any of five available highlighter shades.
Additionally, both devices will offer innovative AI-powered reading tools. The “Story so Far” feature helps readers quickly recap the plot up to their current page, while the “Ask this Book” function enables users to highlight any passage and receive spoiler-free answers about character motivations or scene significance.
