TikTok Introduces Shared Collections and Shared Feeds

TikTok has unveiled a new feature called "Shared Collections," allowing users to gather and share their favorite TikTok videos in one place with friends or family members. In addition, the platform has announced plans for "Shared Feeds," a soon-to-launch feature designed to let users watch curated TikTok content together through a feed based on shared interests.

Earlier this year, TikTok introduced personal Collections, enabling users to organize saved videos into custom folders. With the new Shared Collections, users can now collaborate—whether it's planning a cookie exchange, gathering holiday meal ideas, or collecting inspiration for home decor and secret Santa gifts.

According to TikTok, "Shared Collections" are designed to help people keep track of content they discover together, whether it's from beloved creators, home improvement ideas, or new skills they're learning as a group.

To start a Shared Collection, both users must follow each other. These collections can remain private between select friends and family or be made accessible to a wider audience. Shared Collections are now available worldwide for users aged 16 and older.

Shared Feeds: Discover Together

Looking ahead, TikTok is preparing to launch Shared Feeds, which will enable users to explore content together. These feeds can be created within one-on-one direct messages, offering a new way to discover videos tailored to both users' preferences—such as favorite sports, seasonal activities, or creators they both enjoy. The recommendations are generated based on each user's activity, including their likes, views, and comments.

Unlike endless scrolling, Shared Feeds will present a daily selection of 15 videos for users to watch together.

This feature is reminiscent of Instagram Reels’ Blend, which allows friends to create a personalized reels feed together.

To create a Shared Feed, a user sends an invitation to a friend. Once accepted, both can view the curated feed and discuss the content via direct messages. After watching all the videos, users can access shared metrics, such as which clips they both liked, in a dedicated "Shared Likes" section.

New Greeting Cards Feature

TikTok is also rolling out digital greeting cards that users can send within chats. Users can pick a card, write a personalized note, and send it, with the recipient receiving a festive animation along with the message.
