Amazon introduces delivery updates, last-minute additions, and gift suggestions to Alexa+
Amazon Expands Alexa+ Shopping Capabilities
For years, Amazon has faced the challenge that Echo smart speaker owners rarely used Alexa for shopping, despite the company’s ambitions. However, Amazon is still pursuing this goal. Starting today, Alexa+, the company’s AI-powered assistant, is introducing a suite of new shopping features in the U.S. and Canada. These updates include a dedicated shopping hub, options to add items to recent orders, and tailored product suggestions.
Previously, Amazon had enhanced Alexa+ with tools like automated deal alerts and the ability to make purchases automatically. With these features, users can instruct Alexa to notify them when items in their cart or on their list drop below a chosen price. If automatic purchasing is enabled, Alexa can place the order as soon as the price target is met.
Introducing the “Shopping Essentials” Dashboard
Amazon is now transforming its Echo Show 15 and 21 devices into comprehensive shopping centers with a new interface called “Shopping Essentials.” Through this dashboard, users can monitor their deliveries in real time, review recent purchases, receive reminders for household items that need restocking, and access their shopping lists and saved products.

The interactive screen also allows shoppers to browse additional products, add items directly to their cart, and proceed to checkout with just a few taps.
How to Use the New Features
To try out these enhancements, users can simply say, “Alexa, where’s my stuff?” or “Open Shopping Essentials.” In the near future, a shopping widget will also be available for the Echo device’s home screen, making access even easier.
Additional Updates for Alexa+ Users
- Alexa device owners can now add products to an upcoming delivery at any point before the order leaves the warehouse. This builds upon a feature recently introduced on Amazon’s website and app, and is now available on Alexa devices as well.
- Alexa+ can now suggest gift ideas. By describing the recipient or the occasion, users will see curated product recommendations on their device, sorted into helpful categories.
According to Amazon, Alexa+ now serves “tens of millions” of customers, and these new shopping features are available to users in both the U.S. and Canada. While some users have chosen to revert to the previous, non-AI interface, Amazon notes that this group remains a very small minority.
