Bhutan partners with Cumberland to build digital asset infrastructure
ChainCatcher news, according to Cointelegraph, Bhutan has signed a multi-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with crypto market maker Cumberland DRW. The two parties will cooperate on building digital asset infrastructure in Gelephu Mindfulness City (GMC), further deepening the country's long-term crypto strategy focused on sustainable development.
This cooperation covers Cumberland's support for Bhutan's bitcoin reserve management, establishing a business presence in Gelephu Mindfulness City, and hiring local talent. The market maker will also send domain experts to train the local workforce.
According to the MoU, Cumberland and Bhutan aim to explore the development of a national crypto ecosystem, which includes modern financial frameworks, sustainable mining and AI computing, yield generation, and stablecoin infrastructure. This initiative is led by digital infrastructure company Green Digital, which is responsible for ensuring that digital asset development aligns with Bhutan's broader goals of sustainable development and economic diversification.
