USDT Phishing Attack: $50 Million Stolen, On-Chain Case Opened, Attacker Under 24/7 Monitoring with Potential $1 Million White Hat Bounty
According to on-chain researcher Specter, a phishing attack resulted in the loss of 50 million USDT. An on-chain message to the attacker claims that a formal case has been opened, underscoring the escalation of regulatory and investigative responses in crypto markets.
With the support of law enforcement, cybersecurity agencies, and multiple blockchain protocols, investigators have gathered substantial actionable intelligence on the attacker’s activity. The attacker’s wallet address is now under continuous, 24/7 monitoring to deter further exploits.
A proposed recovery plan asks for roughly 98% of the stolen assets to be returned to a designated address within 48 hours. If accepted, the attacker could retain up to $1 million as a white hat bounty for responsibly disclosing the vulnerability. Refusal would trigger escalation through legal and international channels.
