Tempo Introduces TIP-20 Token Standard for Stablecoins and Payment Use Cases
BlockBeats News, January 7th, the Tempo team released its native token standard TIP-20, targeting stablecoin and payment-type token applications. The official introduction states that TIP-20, in addition to being compatible with ERC-20, adds functions such as transfer memos, compliance controls, and reward distribution, aiming to meet real-world payment, settlement, and fund management needs.
Tempo stated that TIP-20 allows the issuance of customized stablecoins for specific payment scenarios, supports high-throughput, predictable fee payment transactions, and enables stablecoin trading on the Tempo native decentralized exchange. This standard also introduces mechanisms such as role-based permission management and policy registries to support compliance and operational control.
Official disclosure revealed that infrastructure providers such as AllUnity, Bridge, LayerZero have begun to support TIP-20. Tempo mentioned that this standard is suitable for both stablecoin issuers and can be extended to other homogeneous assets to reduce custom development costs and enhance cross-scenario usability.
