US House Speaker: The White House is addressing the Greenland issue through diplomatic channels
According to Odaily, on January 7 local time, US House Speaker Mike Johnson stated that he believes the White House is handling the Greenland issue through diplomatic channels and does not think anyone is discussing the use of military force against Greenland. Previously, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said that the Trump team was discussing "a range of options" for acquiring Greenland, and noted that the use of US military forces "is always an available option." In response to these remarks, Johnson said that the US always maintains a military option on any issue, but this is merely a principled statement. "I think this is a general statement. Regarding the Greenland issue, it is clear that we are advancing through diplomatic channels." Johnson also said he does not believe anyone is discussing the use of military force against Greenland. Johnson stated that the US always reserves the military option on all issues, but regarding Greenland, "it is very clear that we are handling this through diplomatic channels."
