Global economy weathers tariff impact: UN
UN Predicts Slower Global Economic Growth Through 2027
According to a recent United Nations analysis, worldwide economic expansion is expected to ease to 2.7% in 2026, down from 2.8% in the previous year. Growth is projected to edge up slightly to 2.9% in 2027, yet this remains below the 3.2% average seen from 2010 to 2019, prior to the pandemic.
The World Economic Situation and Prospects report highlights that although the United States is set to implement significant tariff hikes in 2025—sparking renewed trade frictions—the lack of a broader escalation has helped prevent major disruptions to global trade. The report notes that, in spite of these tariff shocks, the world economy has demonstrated resilience, buoyed by early shipments, increased inventories, and steady underlying demand.
