Another "wrench attack" incident occurs in France: three masked men armed with guns break into a home and steal a USB drive containing encrypted data.

ChainCatcher reported that on Monday night, three masked men broke into a residence in Manosque, France, held a woman at gunpoint, and stole a USB drive containing her partner's cryptocurrency data. According to the French newspaper Le Parisien, the incident took place at a home on Cherry Field Lane in Alpes-de-Haute-Provence.

The attackers threatened the victim with a handgun and slapped her before fleeing the scene with the USB drive. It is reported that the woman was not injured and managed to free herself and call the police within minutes. Local police have opened an investigation, and the case has been handed over to the local criminal investigation department and the regional directorate of the national police. Last year, Jameson Lopp, CTO of security firm Casa, recorded more than 70 violent incidents involving cryptocurrencies worldwide in his public database, with France becoming a hotspot for such violent crimes in Europe, accounting for over 14 cases.

Cybercrime consultant David Sehyeon told Decrypt: "The baseline level of criminal activity in France is relatively high, and the cryptocurrency wealth held by entrepreneurs, traders, and public figures is quite conspicuous. Combined with the growing local expertise in digital assets, these factors together create fertile ground for more speculative and organized cryptocurrency-related crimes."
