Chris Rokos: Billionaire Hedge Fund Founder and Former Tory Donor

Chris Rokos, who previously contributed approximately £2 million to the Conservative Party between 2009 and 2015, has paid himself £477 million in the past year as his London-based hedge fund experienced a surge in revenue.

Rokos, recognized as one of the wealthiest individuals in the UK, is believed to be the top-earning partner at Rokos Capital Management. The firm, which bears his name, saw its turnover more than double from £445 million to £1.2 billion. Recent financial statements show that the combined profits available to the fund’s 23 partners soared to a record £940 million in the year ending March, up from £315 million the previous year.

Although the accounts do not specifically name the highest-paid partner, Rokos is widely acknowledged as the principal beneficiary, having established the company in 2015 and holding a majority stake.

In addition to his financial success, Rokos owns Tottenham House, a historic Grade I listed mansion regarded as one of England’s most impressive stately homes. Earlier this year, he attracted attention by seeking approval to install about 1,100 solar panels on the estate, aiming to supply energy to the 100-room residence.

The proposed project would see two acres of land—currently used for silage and dairy grazing—converted to accommodate the solar panels, which are expected to generate nearly a third of the estate’s electricity needs.

Tottenham House forms part of the Savernake Estate, a former royal hunting ground with ties to Henry VIII. The property was once owned by the family of Jane Seymour, the king’s third wife, and has been passed down through generations.

Rokos has been investing in the restoration of the mansion, transforming it into a family residence. His renovation efforts include constructing underground tunnels linking the main house to the stables, as well as adding amenities such as a tennis pavilion and a private cinema.

Before founding Rokos Capital Management, Rokos was a co-founder of Brevan Howard, another prominent hedge fund in London’s financial sector.

Unlike many large hedge funds that employ several portfolio managers, Rokos personally leads trading activities at his firm, supported by a team of analysts and senior investment professionals known as investment officers.

Rokos Capital Management declined to comment on the recent developments.
