30 Democrats, including the former Speaker of the House, support an anti-insider trading bill targeting prediction platforms
BlockBeats news, January 10, according to The Block, 30 Democratic lawmakers, including former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, are actively supporting legislation that would prohibit elected officials from engaging in political-related gambling on prediction markets. This follows previous incidents of betting related to the arrest of former Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro.
This bill, named the "Financial Prediction Market Public Integrity Act of 2026," was formally introduced on Friday by New York Representative Ritchie Torres. Previously, a Polymarket account bet that Maduro would "step down" by the end of this month and profited $400,000, raising concerns about insider trading. The introduction of this bill comes amid growing attention to such issues.
