X product lead's statement that "crypto tweets are dying a suicidal death" sparks controversy, suspected to have deleted the post under pressure
According to Odaily, Nikita Bier, Head of Product at X and Solana advisor, posted on X stating that since October last year, a popular view in the crypto Twitter (CT) community is that users need to reply in large volumes daily to achieve account growth. However, he pointed out that frequent posting continuously depletes daily influence, and ordinary users only browse about 20–30 posts per day. The platform cannot push all of a user's content to their followers, resulting in some crypto users over-consuming their influence on numerous low-value interactions such as “gm,” which limits their reach when publishing substantive content like project announcements. Nikita Bier believes that the decline in crypto tweet influence mainly stems from the community’s own behavior, rather than platform algorithm issues, describing it as “CT is dying from suicide.”
These remarks subsequently sparked controversy within the crypto community. Crypto analyst and LedgArt co-founder KALEO stated that Nikita Bier did not consider user growth and long-term active users, and may instead weaken the crypto community ecosystem on the X platform, publicly calling for his resignation. Currently, Nikita Bier has deleted the aforementioned tweets.
