Nvidia and Eli Lilly Bet on AI Drug Development as a New Growth Driver in the Medical Industry Takes Shape

Glonghui, January 13｜Recently, at the 44th JPMorgan (JPM) Global Healthcare Conference, Nvidia and Eli Lilly announced that the two parties will invest $1 billion over the next five years to build a joint research laboratory in the San Francisco Bay Area, aiming to accelerate the application of artificial intelligence in the pharmaceutical industry. As early as last October, Eli Lilly announced that it would deploy the world’s largest and most powerful AI pharmaceutical factory, using a DGX supercluster based on Nvidia’s Blackwell architecture. Eli Lilly Chairman David Ricks stated: “Combining our vast data and scientific knowledge with Nvidia’s computing power and expertise in model building is expected to completely revolutionize the drug research and development model as we know it.” Moving forward, the collaboration will focus on building a continuously learning system, closely connecting Eli Lilly’s intelligent wet lab with its computational dry lab, thereby enabling around-the-clock AI-assisted experiments to support biologists and chemists.
