Is Trump Speeding Up the Fall of the Dollar?
Trump’s Role in the Declining Dominance of the US Dollar
Although President Donald Trump often attributes the global move away from the US dollar to foreign investors and the BRICS alliance, a deeper analysis reveals that his own policies and statements have played a major role in accelerating this shift. The gradual decline of the dollar as the world’s primary reserve currency began long before Trump took office, but the measures implemented during his administration have notably intensified this trend.
Trump’s approach, which includes imposing “reciprocal tariffs” to address the US trade deficit, has had unintended effects. By making it harder for other nations to export goods to the United States, these policies have directly contributed to the momentum behind de-dollarization efforts worldwide.
